Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by Liolia K — 23 Dec 2007
The film's based on the true story of Sophie Scholl, a protestant german girl, who, at the start of the war was on the Nazi side, but after the battle of Stalingrad, wants to persuade the students to rebel against the government, asking to stop the war.
The film works out pretty nicely, since it presents the ideals of the young students in Nazi Germany, who are tired of the war and want to end it and start a new political order, against the rest of the society, which still believes that Hitler can win the war. There's no crude violence in this film, which also makes it outstand from other World War II flicks. Julia Jentsch delivers a very convincing performace.
A very intense look at a rather ignored chapter of history, which will definitevely needs to be revisted for future historic references.
