Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by Alex C — 14 Aug 2011
Well scripted and thoroughly researched, the film departs from one of the most anticipated foreign films to one of the most critically lauded presentations of last-moments epic. Julia Jentsch, playing the title role, preserves the dignity of her persona by flawlessly performing an identical, perhaps almost too indistinguishable, character that defies all criticisms of modern methodical acting, making it the best of her works to this date.
The pace of the movie, accompanying the beautiful cinematography, slowly and carefully building the tension in the audience's seat, and later in the growing admiration of the heroine, among its other wonderful cinematic achievements, I think is what really makes it great to watch.
Astonishing!
