Review of Soo (2007) by Alexandria D — 18 Sep 2010
So I'm looking forward to powerful raw violence and I'm met with this guy who is a complete asshole to this beautiful woman that gives him cake, a vital lead, and cooks for him. It's ridiculous.
The hallway fight is all too brief and poorly shot, especially compared to Old Boy. Thankfully, the movie picks up near the end. Though, the camera work is pretty bad and the amount of punishment the main character can take is hilarious.
It tries way to hard to be a drama. Opera and godfather music accompanying critical points along with the ending makes it clear that they were going for a tragic soap opera vibe. The film is driven by a series of tragedies, raw violence just happens sometimes.
