Review of Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie (1996) by Nathan R — 06 Feb 2009
I thought the Sonic OVA was very entertaining and probably the best Sonic cartoon to date. But, some of the dub voices are quite laughable. I have the VHS copy, so I have yet to see it on DVD in Japanese, but I just know that those voices are better than the dub ones.
For instance, Sonic sounds slightly British ("Mistuh President"), Tails sounds like he has a bad cold, and Knuckles sounds like he's from the South. Eggman's/Robotnik's dub voice, however, is rather well done and suits him quite well.
But even if the dub voices are mostly sub-par, it's still a very entertaining anime film and I recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the Blue Blur.
