Review of Songs from the Second Floor (2000) by Minttu S — 28 May 2008
Great as "You, The Living" was, this is a damned masterpiece. On the one hand, it is certainly a comedy of the outlandish and the absurd, dark-humored and bleak. On the other, it is a film of unique beauty and vision, filmed in long, steady takes which often transform in breathtaking ways.
Greater, I think, than "Du Levande," which nonetheless was one of the best films of 2007. My honest summation is that the most pure thing I can think of to say about this film is that I really want to watch it again.
