Review of Song of the South (1946) by Sam G — 01 Feb 2009
Banning a movie makes it ten times better, and Songs of the South is no exception. It's a pretty fun movie all around.
It's racist because it shows blacks "keeping in there place" and not trying to outshine the white folk. Also it shows the as being quite happy to live in crumbling shacks and only rags to wear and not at all bitter that the white folks get to live in a big mansion and wear fine, untarnished clothes.
Exceptionally racist, but at this point its just really funny.
Immediately after watching this movie you should watch Ralph Bakshi's "Coonskins," which you can find on google video.
