Review of Song of the South (1946) by David L — 16 Mar 2012
The Technicolor and character development could have been better, but Song of the South is a wonderful and nostalgic film that portraits the childhood perfectly; it has message for children, it has beautiful soundtrack and animated sequences are very well animated and surely are a lot of fun.
This film is a giant step forward from "A Reluctant Dragon" and "Victory Through Air Power" and it is one of the best Disney films from the 1940s. I would put it right there with "Bambi" and "Dumbo".
And that says a lot! Song of the South wakes up a child in all of us and is definitely worth seeing. It's such an underrated gem of a film.
