Review of Song of the Sea (2014) by Trevor W — 02 Feb 2015
Unlike the director's first Oscar-nominated animated film, The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea has both stunning animation AND an interesting plot. Despite only being onscreen for a few minutes, the film's antagonist is one of the best developed "villains" in animation history.
The film's Irish score is calming and beautiful. However, some dialogue is a little on-the-nose and childish, and some character design is a little too similar. But a film worthy of its nomination, for sure.
