Review of Song of the Sea (2014) by Adam G — 13 Sep 2015
If you're a fan of the Secret of Kells this is obviously a must-see. It's not a sequel but a stone-alone experience.
Like the SoK it's highly stylized animation. It's done so well that even if you are not inclined to like that sort of thing it won't take away from the experience.
Also like the SoK the story is well written and a wonderful tale. In fact it's not long into the film that the story makes you forget you are watching an animated feature.
Also like SoK (see the theme here?) the total package is unique, rare, and fantastic. Our adults love it as much as our children.
That said, it's quit different feeling than SoK, and it's a bit of ironic that both movies are so similar but in the end feel like completely different experiences.
With SoK, Tomm Moore created a must-see franchise for any film lovers like us. Song of the Sea proves we were right.
