Review of Song for a Raggy Boy (2003) by Izzy T — 10 Jul 2007
This is sort of like Sleepers, except in Ireland; it tells of the absolutely stomach-turning abuse of children in a reform school. I'm not sure if it's based on actual memoirs, but I'm sure stuff like this happens all the time, which is heartbreaking.
Aidan Quinn plays a teacher who tries to step in to protect the children and who gets into trouble himself; the performances, particularly by the young boys, are amazing. This is a tough one to watch.
