Review of Son of the Mask (2005) by Scott H — 11 Nov 2007
Let me preface this by saying I only watched it because there was nothing else on.
That being said...it could have been worse. Surprisingly, it did stay pretty well within the confines of the canon set by the original (loved the nod to Cuban Pete and Ben Stein's character coming back), and the musical number was about 65% awesome.
Unfortunately, it killed almost all that could have been decent about it with horrible miscasting (most notably Steven Wright as the unfeeling boss of Kennedy's character and Kal Penn...as a Spanish guy...good God), and the psychotically unfunny rivalry between the baby and the Mask-adorned dog.
Oh, and Alan Cumming and Bob Hoskins...you are forgiven.
