Review of Son of Saul (2015) by Marcus M — 05 Dec 2015
Incredible film, if not one of the best films of 2015. Lazlo Nemes delivers a tour de force that examines the movements of an ordinary Sodderkomander whose job it was to herd the unknowing victims into the gas chambers.
His pursuit of his son, as the title suggest never lets up as we follow Saul(Geza Rohrig) through the hell of the holocaust. unsentimental and unflinching this film has to be one of the most important of its time and when all the hubris of tyhe hyped ones are forgotten it will be this one, a lot like Elim Klimov's magnificent ''Come and See'' which will endure.
