Review of Son of Saul (2015) by Ian T — 07 Jul 2016
This will sound odd but it reminded me of "Children of men" set in Auschwitz. Since the camera is held on on Sauls face most of the time and it's shot in long takes . I wasn't sure the point of this, as he seemed to be numb to everything.
There wasn't really a glimmer of anything, even when it came his "son", if it was his son. I found the whole thing generally confusing. I wasn't sure if the kid was his son and I wasn't sure what was going on most of the time.
Little disappointed with this one.
