Easily one of the best films that I have seen all year, especially since I am a child of the 80's. So many times I had a silly grin on my face as they made their movie, add a couple of good laughs (where you say right after, "I shouldn't laugh at that") and a bit where you a misty eyed and you have a clever film with all of the pieces in place.
The kid actors are great . . . but I agree with some of the other reviewers: it is a film with kids in it, but it isn't a kids film.
