Review of Son of Rambow (2007) by Tom G — 23 Feb 2009
A lovely premise is spread a little thin by the film's unsureness as to what it's actually ABOUT per se; it's obviously had this great idea but not wanted to boil it down to any one logical endpoint.
(There's an entire subplot that could be covered in half the time were there not French money backing the picture, a factor that distracts). Regardless, the young fellas in the leads are ceaselessly charming, and when the pic's not trying too hard to be a live-action cartoon it's a memorable kids' adventure tale.
