Review of Son of Rambow (2007) by Paul K — 17 Mar 2012
It didn't really do it for me. It does describe the horror of being a small child quite well, and it is funny in parts. The narrative line was patchy enough for Eleanor to fall asleep a few times. The main characters were wacky rather than normal, in terms of lifestyle - one with absentee parents, and the other in the Plymouth Brethren and with no father.
This made it harder to identify with their situations. Some fun use of fantasy scenes, but hard to separate them from what was plausible.
