Review of Son of Rambow (2007) by Irina T — 17 Jan 2011
I thought this movie was American when finally I heard the thick British accent spoken by the two lead characters. Even from the first scene I saw Cooper, I just fell in love with him because he could act really well. In addition, I love how one of the main protagonists is raised in a conservative Christian environment because I think very few people would understand how it feels like to be so entrapped and be in a religious community. Even being a Christian myself, I don't really like the idea of having my freedom completely taken away, and people here are also quite easy going. As long as we still have our faith and we live an honest life, it's okay, because I think the character's mom is too much.
I love the addition of the French kids in the movie. I mean, the movie's not entirely original, obviously, but it's the weird and humourous aspect of the movie that makes it so great. I love it and found it really funny at a lot of moments. I also cried at the end because it was just really touching when Cooper finally showed his true self to his friend - that he just wanted someone to be with him.
This is another British movie that will go unnoticed. :/.
9/10.
