Review of Son of Man (2006) by Craig K — 28 Mar 2010
This is an interesting and engaging retelling of the Jesus story in a contemporary African context. It goes a long way to making the life and ministry of Jesus matter in everyday life, focusing on the political impact of Jesus more than the theological impact.
While it tips the balance toward politics more than is probably warranted by the Gospels, the film seems set firmly in the tradition of Flannery O'Connor, who uses distortion to help her readers see the world more clearly.
