Review of Son of God (2014) by Brad K — 03 Mar 2014
Yeshua was not the Messiah that people wanted when he walked the earth, and still today, people don't want anywhere near a real version of Yeshua or his ACTUAL words or "message." They prefer a model-like, mystic, often (ironically) surprised version of the God man--and every other distorted facet of the story as any other educated historian or theologian would know.
And as for the film's artistic value... was there any?
From top-to-bottom, it had as much story as a shampoo commercial and as much quality (in terms of how it was filmed, casted, acted, and edited) as a low budget music video for a crappy song.
Even the opening shot of John in the cave was such an awkward, imbalanced exposure that I literally thought: "wait... there must be a point to such a poor exposure... there must be something coming." And there was: worse.
I don't judge the hearts of the makers; that's God's job. But I do think it's a shame to build up so much hype over a very poorly made film that represents almost everything that Jesus did (short of dying on the cross) incorrectly and/or with a very odd, plasticky, social revolutionary or stoned mystic tone.
