Review of Son of Batman (2014) by Alex B — 06 May 2014
Voice acting and animation is very good, but the plot and the execution of the combat scenes is absolutely horrible.
I've read the comic books of Batman and Robin in the Damian era, and yes he is quite capable of taking on adults and execute them with bruteforce, but in this rendition he takes on a man 5 times the size of himself and kicks him around like a football.
The dilemma of the son Bruce Wayne inherited from Ra's al ghul that brings several nervewrecking moral issues to the dark knight's working place just wasn't utilized.
The gore and the blood that comes alongside this brutal little assassin child from hell was restricted to that of a few cuts here and there.
The character of Damian Wayne just wasn't very well executed and seemed much more like a toned down version of the original source material.
On top of that, unlike the comic books where the kid is forced to deal with the consequences of his actions headon, he just gets kidnapped here, and gets away with it.
Overall the movie manages to both undermine and exaggerate the source material at the same time, and as a result the movie becomes forgettable.
