Review of Somewhere (2010) by Carolina C — 21 May 2011
I'm a big fan of Sofia Coppola, I loved "Lost in Translation" for its atmospheric somber ton, and that she didn't use a tone of dialogue, she attempts the same approach in this film and I don't believe it matched the storyline.
The film was engrossing, a realistic non glamorized look at being a Hollywood celebrity...however the film was simply too quiet...the long one angle takes were annoying and letting a non actor like Chris Pontius attempt to improvise his lines in a serious drama didn't impress either.
..if you like movies about the industry then give this one a whirl just make sure and have caffeine in you to avoid falling asleep over and over again like I did....
