Review of Somewhere (2010) by Niek S — 17 Jul 2011
Sofia Coppola directs another beautifully filmed story, this time concerning the ennui and emptiness of celebrity. Elle Fanning and Stephen Dorff both provide sympathetic, understated performances that are noteworthy, yet the movie seems more like "Nowhere," in that nothing substantial really happens.
Perhaps that is the filmmaker's intent, but it doesn't make for a particularly memorable experience.
