Review of Somewhere (2010) by Ricardo Z — 17 May 2011
The story starts with an alive Hollywood legend, which life was being manipulated by excesses and by the lack of responsabilities when suddendly an unexpected event arrives to his life:''Take care of his 11 year-old daugther´´.
The emotional trip starts here, you can appreciate the honesty and the beauty of the naked emotions showed in every scene, like if he had never meet up with his feelings.
The film itself has a very descriptive short script, but filled with harmonious scenes(the ones in which you can see Stephen D. and Elle F. characters developing a father-daugther nice realtionship) and exquisite interpretations.
Maybe everyone should put a ''WTF(What the fuck)'' face with the end but I think is the most descriptive and sensitive scene of all, there you see him getting away from his material possessions, and from this material world, start to walk away getting ready for a new start.
Excellent Sofia Coppola art.-.
