Review of Sometimes in April (2005) by Zanalee Z — 11 Mar 2008
I'm ashamed to say, although like many others, I remember hearing a lot about this in the news, I was not aware of the horrific volume of killing that occurred there. I watched it with tears of disbelief not understanding how people can kill so many of their own. But the thing is, I can right? It happens here all the time on a different scale, but scale shouldn't make any difference. The terrible ugliness in humans that allows them to do these things to each other, that's the thing that tears me apart. I understand making war with someone who has made war with you, for defense if nothing else, but killing innocent children and relatives of rebels, people who have not lifted a finger in violence against you...what has to happen inside to execute something like that and sleep at night?
I don't think I ever want to know.
