Review of Something's Gotta Give (2003) by Lea F — 31 May 2009
Considering that romantic comedies have been assembly-line-produced for the past many years, this one stands out from the others in its untraditional approach to the genre, and the refreshing characters played by Nicholson and Keaton.
The disregard for age difference (which, sadly, seems to recover some of its importance) is different and fresh. The story of two people so opposed to each other in the beginning who then slowly recognise surprising similarities is not particularly original, but the manner in which it is done and with the two wonderful actors, is.
Keanu Reeves is sweet and nice as the cute young doctor who becomes Nicholson's competition for Keaton's love. Great movie!
