Review of Something Wild (1986) by Tanya K — 12 Jun 2011
Director Jonathan Demme gives us a most unconventional conventional movie with a knack of marrying very normal scenarios with quirky reactions. The movie is about lust, both suppressed and completely uninhibited.
The film moves from quirky comedy to conventional love story to gangster flick in one swift move and takes the viewer along for the ride. Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels give great performances but it's Ray Liotta who really takes the cake as dangerously possessive ex Ray Sinclair.
Something Wild is unique, fun and entertaining but somehow lacks the draw for a second viewing.
