INTERESTING SUBJECT MATTER GETTING A VERY ROUTINE TREATMENT. IT FOCUSES WAY TOO MUCH ON THE RACIAL ISSUES FROM THE PRE 1960'S RATHER THAN ON THE STORY. I HOPE ONE DAY IN MY LIFETIME A MOVIE INVOLVING AN AFRICAN AMERICAN IN A DISTANT PAST SETTING DOES NOT INCLUDE THE OBLIGATORY "REPRESSED BLACK" PLOT.
