The movie is somewhat maybe true in real life, it represents a love that maybe you're afraid to tell it and suddenly you're best friend steal the scene and gave him/her the chance to actually be with each other.
It's quite sad but then Rachel's character quite lucky because the man she fell inlove with had the same feelings for her, she is still the winner.
