Review of Something Borrowed (2011) by Bennett W — 18 Oct 2011
This movie is bad. Everyone seems to be in agreement, Kate Hudson plays one of the most unlikeable characters I've seen in some time, and I don't mean that in some over the top funny way or darkly dramatic way.
No, no. I mean the character she needs to be put down for the good of the herd...It's as if Hudson saw the final cut of "Bride Wars" and said "I can go more obnoxious. By God, I know I can.
" ...Anyway, rather than pile on to the topics well worn by critics - I want to talk about the Heineken. This rampant product placement was pointed out to me and while watching I could not get it out of my head - which is good because beer spotting gave me something to do in this wasteland.
Here's a game. Every time one of these Ken Dolls turns a Heineken label to face the lens, drink a BASS. That'll show 'em... Come to think of it - I think Heineken could've done a nice counter campaign against Dos Equis, just outright calling the film: "The Least Interesting People In the World.
".
