Review of Something Borrowed (2011) by Rony C — 19 Oct 2011
I've seen a couple of rom-coms in my time, and I'll even admit I enjoy them for what they are. They are fun, silly, and made to entertain. Something Borrowed is a bad rom-com. I started watching this with my family with zero expectation and I still hated it.
The flaw is that there is not one character to care for in this film. From the start our two star-crossed lovers have either cheated on their significant other or betrayed their best friend. Why should I care about these people for the next 2 hours? Everyone in this film is as likable as the annoying girl from Willy Wonka; they are selfish and obnoxious.
The direction is flat and as vanilla as you can make it. Something Borrowed took 2 hours of my life and I can never have that back.
