Review of Something Borrowed (2011) by Ryan R — 23 Apr 2014
This movie really did borrow something from me, 1 hr and 52 min of my life I will never get back. This was a terrible and pointless film that should have never been made. It is filled with annoying characters and cheesy, corny, and poorly written dialogue.
Watching Kate Hudson here felt like torture because she played such an annoying and unlikable character and every time she was on screen I wanted to punch her in the face and tell her to shut up. Romantic comedies are my least favorite genre of movies because to me they are a string of films that don't put much care into its plot, writting, or characters and I know Kate Hudson has been in other romantic comedies before and after watching this bad movie I don't care to watch any of her other movies because it would just feel like a chore to me.
The way the movie presents its plot and story are just formalic and heavy-handed and you have seen all this crap before. The jokes never hit at all and the movie fails as a comedy because the characters were unlikable and most of the acting was bad.
I give the movie one star because I did think that John Krasinski put on a decent performance and I felt he was trying with the mediocre script that he had. Overall in 2011 which was a year full of bad movies, this was definitely one of them.
