Review of Somersault (2004) by Jason C — 12 Apr 2008
Arthousey movie is all about angst, Aussie style. There's not really a lot of plot to go on here, except the fact that a teenager wisely moves out after she makes out with her Mom's Boyfriend. She moves to another hick town, gets excited over getting a job at BP (that's British Petroleum, not Boston Pizza) and finds another guy with a curious 80's mullet who's almost equally angsty as her to hang around in.
The movie is dull in most spots, with some parts difficult to understand because of the non-descript aussie mumbling goig on. Still, for some odd reason, I found myself attached to this one til the very end, primarily because of 80's mullet guy, and me trying to figure out if he was in some sort of hair band or something.
