Review of Somers Town (2008) by Ben H — 06 Mar 2009
Arriving in London to escape his tough Nottingham existence, orphan Tomo (Turgoose) is viciously mugged. But his fortunes take an upswing when he meets shy Polish teen Marek (Jagiello) and the pair form a friendship built on goofing about and harebrained money-making schemes.
Meadows adds another colour to his every increasing pallette of artistic talent with a short and delightful piece of work. What really shines is the friendship between Tomo (Turgoose) and Marek (Jagiello) and their touching adolescent yearning for the young French waitress Marie (Lasowski).
A concise and articulated film that drifts over you whilst leaving a warm glow and a smile on your face.
