Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Isabelle P — 23 Aug 2010
Perhaps one of the greatest comedies of all time. Certainly one of the greatest comedic pairings of all time. And Marilyn Monroe stands obviously out, but fits right in.
The train slumber party scene is anthological, as are Lemmon's (Daphney's) 360 spins of her bass, wild grins, and tango moves.Tony Curtis is hilarious in his Cary Grant impersonation. The film flirts cunningly with gender-bending innuendos, delightfully spoofs the gangster genre and lines up extended slapstick comedy sequences. Flawless.
