Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Jacob B — 03 Jan 2013
Very entertaining way to spend two hours. At first, I had my doubts about it. I thought to myself: "it's about two guys who are in drag for the entire movie, how funny can that be?" Well, the answer is: very, very funny! It has all the right jokes, but most of all the right actors for the job, Tony Curtis and most of all, Jack Lemmon.
Marilyn is okay as the girl Joe is after, but she's basically 'playing' the same type of character she did in The Seven Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Doesn't matter, she's at her best here, much more so than in the two aforementioned films.
In the category "they don't make 'em like this anymore", this is one of the best.
