Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Calvin C — 15 Oct 2011
Another Billy Wilder classic which was voted b AFI as the Greatest Comedy of All Time. and I agree. This movie had me laughing out loud. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon are convincing as men in drag on the run from the mob. Marilyn Monroe has never been sexier and charming. The scenes with Lemmon and Joe E. Brown are just classic. The script is sharp and the situations are over-the-top but effective. Once again, Wilder ends his movies with a memorable last scene/line that makes this comedy a cut above the rest.
Grade: A.
