Review of Some Like It Hot (1939) by Allen B — 24 Oct 2010
A decent comedy, though a bit overrated, and a lot darker than you'd expect. It's also somewhat outdated, as a lot of the humor comes from the then unique notion of two men pretending to be women, which isn't nearly as hilarious a premise these days.
Still, it has its moments, and Marilyn Monroe is adorable and extremely likable as the air-headed, love struck, devil may care love interest. But what was with the ending? The main character deceives her throughout the film in many unforgivable ways, and she still falls in love with him at the end? What?!? Definitely a product of its time.
