Review of Some Like It Hot (1939) by Jaime R — 17 Jul 2013
The screwball comedy genre at its finest. Billy Wilder, the director of Double Indemnity, showing some of his best efforts at such an amazing movie. Marilyn Monroe, Hollywood's most well-known and regarded sex symbol, at the best you can ever expect out of her.
You can't expect a performance as great as this coming out of one of the most beautiful and desired women who ever lived. The characters are charming, and with the performances of Jack Lemmon as Jerry/Daphne and Tony Curtis as Joe/Josephine, it's done in such a funny way.
It is sad that this is one of Marilyn's final works before her unexpected death at such a young age, but you know, if she were still alive, she'd be one of the best actresses out there. The story is written so well, and it just gets better and better as you keep viewing it.
Add this movie to your watchlist right now! It is excellent! It's marvelous!
