Simply a great film. The characters are real, and act in a believable way - kids DO have to choose between declarations of love and enduring friendship, they DO make decisions based purely on the heart and not on the head, parents DO care enough to interfere, even though they don't get the appreciation of their kids until much later, and in the end, the truth is that it IS better to be alone for the right reasons than with someone for the wrong ones.
Oh - and those that read this as Pretty In Pink with gender reversal? Rethink. Hughes had to change the ending of Pretty In Pink due to studio pressure after some advance screenings, so PiP isn't the movie he really wanted to make.
