Review of Some Guy Who Kills People (2011) by Prabhat R — 20 Oct 2012
A blatant testament that you don't need mammoth set pieces, accentuated by million-dollar visual trickery to tell a good, heartfelt story. More than a murder mystery, it's more of a character study on the lead guy, and his predicaments and approach in trying to fit in the world after coming out of a troubled past.
Kevin Corrogan's awkward take on this character is spot on in conveying this peculiar character. The movie is laced with subdued, atypical brand of humour. All the actors did a splendid job, particularly the adorable Ariel Gade, who would always bring a smile to my face.
There wasn't much mystery as to who the real killer was. Right after the first killing, anyone who can put 2 and 2 together, will be able to figure out who the killer is. The movie was more about making good on the second chance that life provides, exorcising your inner demons and be sensible enough to choose the purpose of your life and hanging on to it, as if that's the only bright spot your life could ever be graced with.
