Review of Solomon Kane (2009) by Faisal H — 03 Oct 2010
Opening with a majestic battle and introducing Solomon as a viscious manslayer, this movie gets your attention! The cinematography is pretty amazing; great costumes, settings, sceneries, made to be authentic language which can be bothering for some and a special story of a damned soul.
The doubt between evil and good, the devil or God is heavily dealt with in the first half of the movie, his journey and adventure of beasts and magic leads him even further, eventually upholding the good (ofcourse).
But there was doubt! There's a good expansion on the story itself, even later on a staggering revealence for him. This epic tale comes close to the feeling LOTR could give you, only here we have a seemingly invinsible savior and hero, yet it still fits, he gets strength from that and his damnation.
Throughout the movie we get actionscene after the other with great fights, surely James Purefoy is the better choice! I might say this movie is as good as Van Helsing, better in certain ways!
