Review of Solomon Kane (2009) by Patrick D — 31 Aug 2010
Finally a supernatural action flick that isn't a slapdash mess (Constantine) or pandering drivel (Van Helsing). The plot may be homogenized, but bear in mind author Robert E. Howard set said standard for this type of tale.
Purefoy embodies the very essence of Kane, shooting, snarling, and slashing his way through his fallen fatherland in an effort to save a young girl and, thus, his soul. Strong performances backed by a strong score make this a "must see" for any fan of the genre.
