A lot better than expected. The film boarders on B-grade, but there are elements in here that will definitely keep you entertained. The brutal-ness of the story combined with James Purefoy's performance bumps this up a notch.
It's not for everyone though and the fantasy/magical aspect is a little much, but take it for what it is.
