Review of Solomon Kane (2009) by Sam A — 12 Jun 2013
An accomplishment considering everything about the film should have been B-grade. Instead we were presented with a dark, brooding and highly polished fantasy slasher complete with a dark, brooding protagonist (played by James Purefoy), dark, brooding sets, a dark, brooding musical score and dark, brooding plot.
Well written, well acted, well shot. Just generally well everything. Some great fight scenes and an anti-hero that, in my opinion at least, ticks all the boxes and more (think if Van Helsing was a twisted soul with nothing to lose and everything to gain). 5/5.
