Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Mattyice — 24 May 2018
Simply put, Solo is more of a product than a film. While well made, acted, and written, the film feels overwhelmingly unnecessary. It puts together Star Wars’ 4th straight and uninnovative “crew/ensemble story”, has poor pacing, and, aside from a decent action set piece (the train battle), it is just boring, predictable, and pointless.
Finally, the stakes are next to none since we know who lives and dies or at least becomes relevant. Overall, this movie should have never been greenlit in favor of better solo (no pun intended) movies for other great characters.
The film is purely peripheral for diehard Star Wars fans and not worth it for casual fans and moviegoers.
