Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Stormchaser O — 29 May 2018
Honestly it was not a terrible movie but it was surprisingly boring. You wouldn't think that you could make a Star Wars movie inconsequential and flat but this pulled it off. Lando and Chewy were the best parts of the movie.
L3-37 was an abysmal embarrassment to the franchise, as a pointless political activist droid whining through every scene until she is killed to everyone's relief. It's a shame because K2-SO from Rogue One was very funny and actually added to the story.
Overall Solo is shallow; the villain isn't that bad, the heroes aren't that special and the attempt to redeem these problems with the endless callbacks to the original trilogy is just painful to watch.
Hopefully Disney realizes LucasFilm needs to make movies that are actually good that people actually want to see. That surprisingly isn't so self-evident to certain LucasFilm executives... hmmm...
