Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Brandon L — 29 May 2018
We may know Han Solo's fate in the later years of the Star Wars universe, but that doesn't make this outing to the movies any less fun. Solo is a well constructed sci-fi film that, much like it's only current Star Wars Story companion, Rogue One, exists well within the confines of the saga, or on its own.
While Alden Ehrenreich cannot be Harrison Ford, no one should expect him to be. He delivered a very impressive performance that doesn't come across forced, but as a natural young Han Solo. Donald Glover's performance was also very impressive, bringing some much needed back story to the enigmatic Lando Calrissian.
Overall, this film is not only a good Star Wars film, but also a very enjoyable and competent science fiction film that works on its own or as a part of something much bigger. Was Solo the perfect, or even penultimate entry in the franchise? No, but it was a film that every movie goer should see at least once and judge for themselves.
