Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Sharon M — 03 Jun 2018
Even though I want KK out of the pilot's seat of Star Wars, because she is just poison in my book, I saw Solo today, and I have to say, it was really good. it is my favorite of the new movies by a long way. it was much like the Star Trek reboot and new Kirk. I was very apprehensive about it, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Alden Ehrenreich.
Is the new Solo, as far as I am concerned. Ford wanted nothing more to do with the character, and tossed it aside, and it was picked up by the right man. Donald Glover also did a fantastic job as a young Lando, and Joonas Suotamo really brought Chewie to the forefront. I also really enjoyed Woody Harrelson's Beckett, and Emilia Clarke was just lovely. the droid L3, a character I di not just hate, was a bit too much for my taste. this charater harshed my escapism buzz just a fuzz too much. the film was not near as "sjw" as I had seen reported, and I was so happy about that/ L3 brought a good 1/2 bucket of it, but not near enough to ruin the film.
I really got into the story from the get go, and enjoyed the ride with only a couple of small road bumps. I am glad the movie ended with a good opening for a segual, and it would just fine with me if they got that in the works A.S.A.P.. tying the sequel into the up coming Boba Fett movie seems the obvious direction, and I would be so stoked for that.
Again, I meant what I said about KK, but go see the film before judging it.
