Solid character study that uses our memories of past Douglas performances to paint an obscure picture of this character's past while examining his current lifestyle. Douglas is excellent, as is the rest of the cast.
People keep popping up here that you don't want to see leave the screen: Jenna Fischer (maybe she'll nab more movie roles now that The Office is losing Carrell?), Mary-Louise Parker, David Costabile, Sarandon, DeVito, even Jesse Eisenberg and Olivia Thirlby are in this.
It's like indie/telivision actor heaven. It'll be interesting to see how the Wall Street sequel and this relate to each other, if they do at all. This character carries some echoes of Gordon Gekko that are unmistakable.
