Review of Solitary Man (2009) by Jonathan K — 15 Dec 2010
This is not a very good film. it's a really good character piece and a great performance by Michael Douglas, but not a good film. it's full of screenplay maxims that tend to range from silly to sappy to sensational (not in a good way).
the story isn't decisive in its approach to the prantagonist (protagonist/antagonist hybrid) lead, dabbling in dark overtones and feel-good exchanges without discretion. it was kind of a mess, but if you love Michael Douglas or the synopsis sounds like something you'd enjoy, then see it.
